1. Depending on my situation and how strongly I felt of the situation, I would make similar choices that Yossarian made. I believe the way he went about fighting the system showed cowardess, and I try to shy away from that. I would want to stand up and express how I felt in the proper order and system, so I could be more effective and actually get results for more people than just myself. Yes, depending on the situation. Fighting the military would be extremely hard and they are very sneaky in how to "shut people up". So I would be very cautious, but I believe it can be done. Any cause that violates another person's rights or violates a person's free will in any way. Not petty issues however issues that cause people to get taken advantage of. I would fight until the end for that.

2. When Joseph Heller says "The only freedom we have is the freedom to say no", I believe he means in life we have choices. In those choices there is a yes or no answer, however, nothing in this world is free, so picking yes come with a price. Choosing no is a freedom we are born with, because no is always an option that can't be taken from a person. I personally agree with him because through personal experience "no" is always an option that sometimes won't cost you much. For example, when saying no to drugs you cancel all the negative aspects of that decision. No is a sort of cancellation, of a life transaction. The "Just say no" catchphrase coincides well with the statement. It states our right and freedom to always say no and follow through with it.

3. If the book would have been written in a more serious manner it would not have the same effect. Actually, the book would be more mondane instead of clinching with the use of satire. It captivates and aggrevates the reader. Reader's responses would waiver if it would have been written in a more serious manner also. The use of satire in the book causes certain emotions and point of views to change and base the response on how the reader would feel if placed in a situation. I think the meaning of the book would change if it were more serious, because the point of view would be different and the mood and atmosphere of the book would change, inversely making it a different book.
